D Jam This Is The Modern Worl Vylv 900365 8013252900365 29/19.19 _____ Rock
2008 Vinyl pressing includes eight bonus tracks from the BBC sessions. The original was released in 1977. This Is The Modern World was their second
release just after their debut album, In The City. Despite generally bad review from critics at the time, the album does have its shining moments (‘Life From
A Window’ and the ‘The Modern World’ for example). It is also interesting as a piece of history for its lyrical content, which, as the album’s title promised,
is a snapshot of a day in the life of a declining British Empire during the late 1970s.

D Mayall,John Bare Wires Vylv 900327 8013252900327 29/19.19 _____ Blues
2008 Vinyl pressing reissue includes two bonus tracks. The original Bare Wires was released in 1968. This was Mayall’s most successful album to date,
hitting #3 in the UK. A more free form jazz influenced number than any of his previous work, Mayall was experimenting outside the blues format and this
album pushed the band in a new direction. Recorded with a 19 year old Mick Taylor (later of the Rolling Stones) on guitar.
D Mayall,John Turning Point Vylv 900402 8013252900402 40/26.29 _____ Rock

Stones. The album instead featured the guitar playing of Jon Mark and John Almond on sax and flute but no drums. This created a sound that was radically
different from their previous releases.
I Modey Lemon Season Of Sweets Birdman 771987 607287010717 39/23.69 _____ Rock
UK vinyl LP pressing. Modey Lemon plays stoner rock with both their heart and head and produce jams that are epic yet tight and riffs that ringing rather
than sludgy. Season of Sweets is by far their best releases yet, with all their production methods refined and well-oiled. A perfect release for Spring, just
in time for shirts-off and tops down. Blissful yet raw riffage is at work on ‘The Peacock’s Eye’. Tunes that both smoke and enlighten like ‘Become a Monk’,
‘Sacred Place’ and ‘Live Like Kids’. This Pittsburgh trio lead by guitarist Phil Boyd shows quite a bit of promise!! Birdman. 2008.

2008 reissue of their third album released in 1979 from these geniuses of washed out Brazilian Psychedelic rock. They may have been trying to pay
homage to their better known icons back in the states, but in doing so created something that went beyond all that until 30 years later, they became the ones
that everyone was trying to imitate. This album, further testimony to their limitless creativity, and considered by many to be their best, was recorded during
the height of the Brazilian Military Regime’s crackdown on artists and fellow members of the Tropicalia Movement. Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil had
already been sent into exile in the UK.

D Wonder,Stevie Talking Book Vylv 900396 8013252900396 29/19.19 _____ Urban
The 2008 reissue of Talking Book which was released shortly after Wonder completed his 1972 tour with the Rolling Stones and peaking at #3 in the US.
It is the second release in what is widely regarded as his classic period, a period in which Wonder broke completely with the Motown sound and
philosophy. Despite the strong initial disapproval of label execs, Wonder forged ahead and he was rewarded with phenomenal success, forcing Motown
to grant him complete artistic freedom over his work and proving to the music industry that R&B artists could find widespread appeal with rock audiences.
