2008 digitally remastered reissue of this album from the Canadian band led by Bob Segarini. Originally released in 1968, this was Segarini’s first album,
predating his work with Roxy, The Wackers and his excellent solo career. Beautifully re-mastered from the original mono master tapes (the stereo mix was
done by an assistant engineer alone and is a travesty according to the band members!). Amazing packaging including previously unpublished photos and
in-depth liner notes with the participation of Segarini. Rev-Ola.

2008 release, a timely retrospective of one of the less heralded groups of the classic Cherry Red era of the early ’80s but one in whom interest is growing.
Musically akin to such contemporaries as Wire and This Heat, Five or Six had the distinction of providing the opening track (‘Portrait’) to Cherry Red¹s
historic Pillows And Prayers compilation and this little masterpiece is duly featured on this collection. After the group disbanded, its members went on to a
multifarious range of artistic occupations, such as members of Spring Heel Jack, the Shock Headed Peters, jobs at Factory Records and 4AD Records and

2008 release that combines Gilberto Gil’s brilliant 1968 and ’69 Tropicalia albums, Frevo Rasgado and Cerebro Electronico. This is joyous, extraordinarily
inventive Pop music made against a background of terrible political unrest in Brazil and in the shadow of both imprisonment and eventual exile both for Gil
and his friend Caetano Veloso. The 1968 album is electrified by the meteoric Os Mutantes and both sets arranged by Rogerio Duprat who contributes a
range of totally original textures and orchestration much as George Martin did with Strawberry Fields and Sgt Pepper. Suffice to say, this combination of
precocious talent achieves a magical and historically important result. El.

Obscure artifact out of a local scene that produced cult music for a 15-year period; this is a powerful trip in a song-oriented ’70s British Rock/Hard Rock
style, with Psych moves on the two long epics. Plenty of raw guitar, some piano and Synth, heartfelt vocals, all wrapped in a consistent package that
displays talent and self-confidence. May be too much of a 70s mainstream sound for some, and indeed it would have deserved to come out on a major label.

2008 reissue of this album from the American singer/songwriter, originally released in 1969. After a handful of Folk albums, The Carolyn Hester Coalition
was a completely different beast, taking her in a Psychedelic direction. The album is a fine West Coast-style Hippie fuzz Folk Rock/Pop affair with Hester
singing in a decidedly non-folky Acid Bubblegum style. Solid all the way through, this album should appeal to any fan of Neighb’rhood Child’n, Birmingham
Sunday, Daisy Chain and similar semi-light trips. The opening “Magic, Man” is well known due to its inclusion on the Hippie Goddesses compilation. Erubus.

2008 reissue of this album from the American singer/songwriter, originally released in 1970. This is highly enjoyable in a style similar to the first Coalition
album; a small step or two towards moody Folkier sounds all over and a little less Sunset Strip Bubblegum. Setting is unchanged with a stripped down teen
guitar/organ sound supporting Hester’s candy acid vocals. The acid fuzz rework of “St James Infirmary” with modernized political lyrics is very good.
“Calico Sky” should appeal to fans of soft femme vocal pop. Erubus.
