Malin, Jesse On Your Sleeve One Little Indian 1320085 5016958093327 $19.99 Rock/Pop
2008 covers album from the former leader of D-Generation. Recorded over seven days and featuring
interpretations of classic singer-songwriters Tom Waits and Neil Young, contemporary greats such as The
Hold Steady and The Kills, Punk icons The Ramones and The Clash, Lou Reed and even a Sam Cooke
standard. As a performing songwriter, Jesse appreciated the challenge of covering unique melodies not of
his own design. Jesse Malin’s musical career began at twelve years old when he fronted New York hardcore
band Heart Attack and spanned eight years with D Generation before culminating in three critically-acclaimed
solo albums this decade past. The most recent of these came in the form of 2007’s Glitter In The Gutter,
which saw Jesse accompanied by a raft of talented performers including long-time companion/sometime
producer Ryan Adams, Josh Homme and Bruce Springsteen. One Little Indian.

Roedelius/Story Inlandish Gronland 1265952 5065001040108 $18.99 Rock/Pop
A sequel to the acclaimed Lunz project, this follow-up finds Hans-Joachim Roedelius and Tim Story shedding
their original collaborative moniker in favor of recording under their own names. It’s great to hear the Cluster
and Harmonia veteran in such fine form (he’ll be 74 this year), making effortlessly graceful ambient music that
still sounds like it’s at the very forefront of the genre. Inlandish is bound to prompt comparisons to Ryuichi
Sakamoto or Harold Budd for the glowing, meditative piano pieces at the heart of the record, but the kind of
electronic treatments and additional instrumentation reaches beyond any single theme, with some
compositions simply augmented by ghostly strands of cello, while others more fully embrace digital
manipulation, as on ‘Serpentining’; a melding of melodic piano and humming circuitry.
